Lumbosacral disease is a multifactorial degenerative disease that primarily affects middle-aged-to-older large-breed dogs, with male dogs more commonly affected (2:1). German shepherd dogs are the most likely to develop this disease, but it has been reported in a variety of dog breeds, and it is increasingly recognized in cats.
